Upcycling design with the exhibition Plastic: Remaking Our World
The travelling exhibition Plastic: Remaking Our World, curated by the Vitra Design Museum, currently being shown at the National Museum of Singapore, looks at the explosion of plastic in the 20th century and its devastating effects on the environment. The exhibition also offers a hopeful outlook, presenting new research into recycling and more sustainable uses of this ubiquitous material.
Our team in Singapore embraced an upcycled approach, whimsically incorporating used plastics into the design. Items used to identify plastics in the space are recycled materials collected by our team and the National Heritage Board. The exhibition title has been a big hit—upcoming stops on the tour are keen to create their own versions of it using local recycled plastic bags!
